About the event
A weekend of exploring the wonders of wool!
We’ll get hands on with felting wool, one of the oldest human technologies; a simple process of layering and agitating wool fibres with warm water to achieve a sturdy, warm textile that can be made into any form imaginable; we can make some hats, felted slippers, and more.
You will meet the sheep who provide the wool for your felt and Betsy of Red Shepherd Folk will guide us on the journey of raw fibre from fleece to fabric. Handling sheep’s fleeces; sorting, scouring (washing), carding and spinning on both drop spindles and spinning wheels.
You’ll leave with all the information and skills to work with readily available raw fleeces and use this miracle fibre for your own creative endeavours, be it knitting, weaving, crotchet, felting… the possibilities are infinite.
Come play, get messy, get curious, and walk away with a new, ancient skill!
